Anybody looking for a small (just 124 rooms) quality, adult only property with more or less year- round sunshine could look no further than the 5* Iberostar Grand Hotel El Mirador in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. The Grand Hotel El Mirador is located in the up-market resort of Costa Adeje and close to the El Duque shopping centre. It is also very close to the pedestrianised seafront promenade where you can walk for miles – all the way to Playa de las Americas and beyond to Los Cristianos, and stop off at one of the numerous cafes, bars or restaurants.I visited this hotel in June, along with its’ sister properties: 5* Anthelia (good for families & couples and great location!) and the 5* Grand Hotel Salome (also adult only).
As we entered the cool, slightly Balinese style reception we were greeted by soft music and a wonderful aroma of jasmine and lemongrass. After an informal but personal check in we were shown to our room, a wonderful Junior Suite, which is the lead-in room type and a very generous 49m sq.We started our day with a sumptuous breakfast on the terrace, then lazed around the large pool, ordering the occasional cocktail from one of the friendly waiters who were always on hand.Lunch was taken at the poolside casual Las Pardelas snack bar, but there’s also a more formal option – La Pergola.
Our evening began with a pre-dinner G&T in the lovely La Tasca outdoor cocktail bar overlooking the pool. Dinner can be taken in El Mirador restaurant or on the terrace and, although sold as a buffet restaurant, we found that starters and desserts were buffet style, but for the main course there was an excellent choice of a la carte dishes, which arrived under silver domes, excellently presented and superb quality! There is also an intimate A La Carte option – El Cenador restaurant serving traditional local produce with a modern twist. If you don’t want to dine in the hotel there are plenty of lovely restaurants within a short stroll of the hotel.
A perfect destination for a relaxing, luxurious getaway!
